I think I'll stay with the Pledge Multi Surface cleaner. Not deadly at all!

I also use both of these products, mostly Lucas because I only wash and wax 3-4 times a year.....

I have some magic mix of fabric softener and water, the proportions of which I have forgotten, that also works well and was all the rage on one of last mc forums I was on. I'll see what I can dig up on it.

Who the heck washes their bike every time they ride it??? Id have to wash it every single day. My bike gets washed when it gets dirty.... 6 or 8 times a year maybe... I ride it all year round almost every day (except if its snowing). Just ride the thing and quit obsessing.
As far as keeping the scratches out... You need plenty of soapy water, clean washcloths and dry it with a leafblower (not a towel or chamois). Give it a good coat of wax once in a while too
