Uh, You have a "detailer"? Wow, that makes me feel poor....
No ****. I would tell the detailer that is the reason I am paying you my hard earned cash. If you can't fix swirl marks I will take it to someone who can. Swirl marks even on black paint is not hard to remove with a buffer if you know what you are doing.
I hear ya. Sometimes I'll give it a wash with a little dawn dish soap in warm water just to get everything else clean but in between, denim cleaner.
Never use dish soap, glass cleaner or simple green on your paint. They will all strip wax. If your going to use soap use a good soap designed for auto washing or a cheap hair shampoo like Suave.
They stay clean if you stay on top of it. I wipe mine down before every ride with an occasional wax here and there. I HAD to wash it last week because we got caught in the rain. It took 7 hours to clean back up. Last time it saw the hose was Oct 2012.
I have heard a lot of people using Pledge on their windshields. I am guessing it does not damage it like Rain-X would? Is it a problem to use it all of the time? And, does it remove bugs?
