Dihydrogen monoxide is a complicated way of saying H2O or water. After the 5th PM telling me how stupid I am for using a chemical that can kill me or the environment, "eat the paint" and one that even quoted a buddy it sent to the hospital and another one that told me to write while I'm in the hospital.
I take a gallon ice cream bucket and before I pull it in for the night take warm soapy water and wash the front off. Take 5 minutes and the bugs are gone
I never wipe down a dry bike. I use Blackfire Midnight Sun detail spray. I also use Blackfire Blackice Hybrid Montan Sealant Wax. It's expensive but if you have a black or dark bike you'll see what you paid for. I can ride all day and when I get back barely a bug on the bike. The paint looks like it's wet and it's slick to the touch. One application lasts 6 months or more.
I use a product made by Norton called Liquid Ice. The stuff works on everything, chrome, plastic, rubber ... it takes the bugs off with little effort and only a small amount is needed. One bottle will last a whole season.
Meguiars dry wash and microfibre towel. Some 3 in 1 silicone spray on the engine and chrome and a wipe over. Zymol on the tins. Washing the bike with water causes water marks on the chrome and introduces moisture around electrical connections. I only wash with a bucket and sponge if the bike has been caught in a rain shower or I've been touring.
Did my RK yesterday after a short ride to the coast.
