Traded in my 2012 Electra Glide Classic on a 2014 Limited. Only had it about three weeks and just passed the 500 mile mark. When looking at the ends of the exhaust, I noticed the end of the left hand side exhaust has plenty of soot but the right side is clean as a whistle. My 2012 always looked even to me.
I've also noticed some decal popping and in general, the engine just doesn't seem as smooth as my 2012. Seems like there is a slight ticking sound as well. A little concerned that I might have made a mistake in trading in the 2012. It ran smooth and never gave me a hint of any problems. Even the transmission on the 12 seemed smoother.
Back to my original query, is soot on one end of the exhaust but not the other indicative of anything ?
I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I would point it out to the service department.
The beauty of the 14 Limited is the twice cooled motor. It's night and day better when you get stuck in some traffic. You've got 2 years to let the dealer work the bugs out of the 14.
The trans will be smoother after you get some miles on it. when I bought my 12 I thought it wasn't as nice as the demo the dealer let me ride, it was just new.
