RE: Filling up with GAS.. sidestand or sitting on it?
Screamin'
There is virtualy no possability of a spark being created when refueling. Even IF there was a static build up it would need to find ground to discharge and if you go with your theory you can ground through the sidestand. With the bike upright it won't find that ground through the rubber tires.
But really, there is no chance of a spark, that's only a problem with aircraft as the spinning prop ,or fan in a jet, can create static electricity that will discharge through the fuel connection, that's why you see them attach a ground cable before refueling.

I use the stand as well. BTW, on another post, people were made to know that it's a "jiffystand" not a sidestand or kickstand. LOL
Chris
LOL, how old are you, Chris? I hold with the theory that it used to be a jiffy stand when the bikes came with a centerstand, also. I like sidestand now, I guess 'cause hardly anyone has a kickstarter on their bike, so it can't be a kickstand any longer. Well, unless the bike won't start and you stand beside the beastie and kick it over!
