I'm looking to replace my windshield on my 03 Ultra. Right now I have a 10" regular "stock" style and want to replace with either a Klock Werks or a National Cycle. I'm 5' 9" and bike is stock height. What is the recommended height so I don't have any buffeting? I'm thinking the 7.5" National Cycle, or the 8.5" Klock Werks. Opinions?
Everyone is different..trial and error is all I can tell you. I'm 5'10 and went from the stock to a 5.5" flared and I still have it. Not sure if a 7" would help either. I've read that the buffeting comes from below the batwing not above and fairing air deflectors are what helps buffeting....never tried them though.
Try Long Ride Shields, they have an instructional video on shield height. http://www.longrideshields.com They also give a discount to members of this Forum, use Discount code HDF20 for a 20% Discount.
I am not connected to Long Ride Shields, just a satisfied customer.
Yeah, I hate to use the trial and error since I'll be buying online. Like I said, I'm 5'9" w/32" inseam so I'm thinking anywhere from the 7.5-8.5" would work.

That said I am 5'8 and have the 7.5 National Cycle VStream and really like it.
I have the 7 1/2 inch HD windshield on my SG (along with fairing deflectors). I am 5' 10" and I don't get any buffeting. I know the fairing deflectors help a lot with buffeting. I have the Memphis Shade deflectors.

I am 5'9" as well with a short 29" inseam. I just put on a tradition 8" windshield that I bought off eBay and it it perfect for me. I can easily see over it and it looks good and the wind goes up an over my helmet. I can wear my open face helmet with sun glasses without them getting blown around. I do have the air deflector under the triple trees and the lower Batwing air deflectors as well.

I really like the way that 7.5" looks!
I know what you mean the VStream was my 5th try and it stuck. Have had it on for 3 years now.
