This will be a backroad casual ride for about 200 miles or so. I'm sure there will be plenty of stops along the way but I also know at times we will be cruising at speed of 60 - 70 mph.

Since this bike has been in the shop for the better part of a month, it still only has 100 miles on it.

Do you guys think it is too early to take it on this type of
ride????
Get on that thing and ride it. You just paid a lot of money for that beauty. It's a Harley Davidson motorcycle man.
They are made to ride. If you feel the run is too fast or too far between breaks for your new engine, just drop back.
Enjoy.

Well the dealer just called to tell me the bike was repaired. I will be picking it up in a couple of hours.

I have been invited to go on a ride with a group of people tomorrow. This will be a backroad casual ride for about 200 miles or so. I'm sure there will be plenty of stops along the way but I also know at times we will be cruising at speed of 60 - 70 mph.

Ride it like you stole it Bro...it's under warranty and call HD, be nice and explain the situation...might get your warranty extended.

Someday H-D will design a 1/8" fill hole in the inner primary cover so this could have been avoided. Remove the allen head pipe plug and if fluid runs out or level with the hole you are good to go...add as necessary. Of course it would be for customer satisfaction, and of course they aren't going to do it, because they want to sell an inspection cover gasket.

Part of the setup charge is a road trip , I know for a fact the dealer I go to does do the test run on setup of the new bikes. That is totally unacceptable and I would never let that touch my bike again.

Well the bike is running great...Put a new Sundowner seat and backrest on it for my girl then rode about 40 easy miles on it last night. No problems whatsoever. Getting ready for the longer ride now.Karen is putting on her leather and I am putting on my smile!!! The high today is about 70 degrees in Houston and the rain won't be here until tomorrow. This should be a great day!!!!

Good for you. Get out there and enjoy that beauty.
On a side note, I'm not getting ready for a ride. Kim is not putting on her leathers and I'm not smiling.
It's going to warm up to about 5 degrees below freezing and continue snowing most of the day.
It won't be a good day!
