Looking to stay in the Travelers Motel in Tupelo next month on a Natchez Trace ride. I normally check the area with Google Street View Maps but there is nothing available for this address.
915 N Gloster St, Tupelo, MS 38804
I like staying at smaller mom&pop hotels where you can park the bike near the door, but they can be hit and miss so I try to "look" at the property first.
Appreciate any input on this hotel. (or any other smaller place near the Natchez Trace exits)
On our way back from Sturgis last year we stayed at America's Best Inns in Tupelo, 897 Harmony Ln, 38804. It was clean and cheap, bike parked at room door. It is within a short walking distance of a Red Lobster. Not at all fancy but we were ok with it.
We made the Trace trip about 3 weeks ago, stayed at the Comfort Inn about 3 miles off the Trace. I lost my information but I think it was on Hwy 78. They had the best staff you could ask for. With that being said about 2 days later was when the tornado hit Tupelo and I think the motel received heavy damage. Might want to give them a call. I highly recommend.
Is this your first ride of the Trace?
Watch the speed limit, fill up before getting on the Trace, stores only at designated exits - good to know which exits before you leave. Natchez Trace HD is a pretty good dealer with a nice Tee Shirt for the collection. Little boring for some, but enjoy!
Tupelo was hit hard by the tornado. Quite a few hotels were damaged, things are getting better in that area though. Just as others said, watch your speed, but enjoy the ride!!!!
Practically lived on Gloster Street for a year or so. Most everything is new and very close to anything and everything you may want. Tupelo is a beautiful city that is really growing. It is one of my favorite cities in Mississippi. The only thing I don't like about it is that the night life was a little lacking. The Stables is downtown and it is a pub/tavern type bar and grill with good food and beer, but I like going and listening to live music. There is JR's not far at all from Gloster and they usually have live music. Kind of a redneck sort of place but growing up in Mississippi I am accustomed to that type of atmosphere.
Good luck, be safe, and have fun.
I can tell you more about the area it you have any questions, feel free to ask.
