Default Towing my 14 SGS out of State=

I have rented a uhaul trailer and will be towing my 14 SGS to NC for a permanent move. What is the best way to tie down the bike? I towed my Chopper before and utilized the forks as tie down points. On this SGS, where should I tie it down? I know if you use the bars, you can bend the bars. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I seriously doubt you will bend the bars. Get some of these

get some loops and tie to the engine guard. (we used to call it a crash bar)

Wherever you secure the ties... just don't compress the forks more than half way. Disable the security as well.

Your REALLY going to enjoy the riding in the NC (and surrounding) area.

Ease into it.... more curves in a 50 mile radius than the ENTIRE state of Florida has total.

lag a wheel chock down and we put 2 ratchets over the triple tree in between the tank, and 1 through the back tire to help keep it centered pulling backwards slightly. x2 just compress the shocks till the bike firms up.

I also had a block of wood under the bike where you would put your jack. compress the bike down to the wood and then the bike won't bounce and yank on the bars or guard. do not cover the bike if it is on an open trailer. no matter what you use it will rub he paint off. ... area of n.c. you coming to?

Koozeabout.

I tie mine down with 6 sets with soft ties.

The first two sets up front. Not my picture, but this kinda is how I did it. One set to the eye bolts on the HF chock, and one set to the e-track on each side of the bike.

The next set was to each passenger footboard mount to the e-track. All 6 pull forward. I never compressed my suspension and the bike was rock solid. When I tried to move the bike, the whole enclosed trailer moved.

HD makes some very nice and secure chrome tie down loops that mount on the forks...best way along with a Condor chock. Make an "X" with 2 straps under the frame in the rear to the back corners of the trailer to keep the rear from walking side to side. If you get a condor chock you don't need to pull it down very much to hold it. I have hauled several harleys thousands of miles like this....zero issues.

I like soft ties on the frame right above the engine guard to attach your tie downs. I don't think the bars are a good idea either. Get good tie downs not the $7 HF ones and use some kind of chock.
