I have an '08 RKC and I also purchased their bushing kit. It went well, however, my dilemma is the chrome handlebar clamp shroud will not seat properly on the nacelle, It is touching the top section of the bars were it increases in diameter to 1.25 in. I tried multiple combinations concerning the bushings; new wildone bushings, stock bushings, stock cup washer with new W/O bushings, stock bushing with new W/O cup washers. It is all the same, the shroud continues to touch the bars. I checked and double checked the knurling of the bars to the bar clamp. I rechecked the torque settings and I'm at 35 ft-lbs. I looked at prior photos of my bike with the stock bars and it appears that there is only about 1/8 in. gap between the bottom of the shroud and the top of the bars to begin with. What are my options, maybe I should think about grinding the bottom section of the shroud or buying a CVO shroud because the bars on the CVO are larger in diameter, or is there something that I'm missing. Thanks...
When I installed my Wild One bars (can't remember the model number...516 or 518?) on my 07 FLHRS, I had also purchased the optional H-D polyurethane bushings to install.
I quickly found out the new optional bushings wouldn't work with the new 1-inch bars. I called Wild One and they informed me that the bars wouldn't work with those bushings and to re-use my old ones. I did that and had no problems.
Give Wild One a call; they are very knowledgeable about the installation and were most helpful to me.
I just did a set of 518's on my 03 and had an issue with the cover lining up initially because I tightened the 4 nuts that hold the nacelle before installing the cover and it wouldnt line up until I loosened those and shifted the nacelle forward.
Otherwise it sounds like a possible issue with the bars themselves - pics?
Yup tried shifting the nacelle cover, no go. Eventually I bought new stock H.D bushings and pulled out the Wild one bushings and it was an obvious difference, the W/O are taller which caused all my troubles. After installing the H.D bushings it all button up perfectly. So to anyone that is about to perform a bar swap and are planning to use W/O bushing make damn sure that they are the correct size...
