I have an 07 EG Classic and am amazed over the improvement from my previous ride. One thing I would like to mention is that I noticed the wind buffeting on my previous ride was related to my leg position; if I stretched my legs out as if I had highway pegs the wind buffeting stopped. It seems to me like wind buffeting is as unique to the individual asthe bike, it is not as simple as "add this" and your problem will be solved. Try adjusting your ride position andyour leg position anduse your hands to try blocking the wind buffeting to identify where the problem is coming from. If you can isolate the problem, it may help you figure out how to solve it.

..try different eyewear.. how many hotrodbikes without windshields are being ridden every day..speed is speed, whether it's a bike, boat, plane..never had a vision issue that wasn't resolved with a change in glasses, also it seems your eyes get used to it and it gets better over time.

I got to tell you that I don't notice much head buffeting at all when running the stock windshield. I am currently running the 4" aftermarket shield and of course I get alot more air. I don't mind it.Plus it looks good on my 03' EG Standard.

Can anyone tell me if there has been any wind/buffeting problems with the 06 07 Electra Glide standards ? I have an 07 Super Glide that I can't ride 70 mph because of double vision . I've tried the tank lift and windshield and I still can't solve my problem so I'm thinking about getting rid of the bike and getting a touring model . I did a search but all I could find was info on an SG . Thanks
You shouldn't have any problems, but there are two aftermartket items you might consider after purchase. One is the wind deflector kit (58121-85B), which drastically reduces wind coming up from the tank. This really quietens and smooths things out. Another is the fairing-mount deflectors, either the HD fairing air deflectors (various types), Freedom Wings (not HD, adjustable), and the new HD adjustable deflectors (57804-07). I have the Freedom Wings and they work very well.

This is my fourth big twin and first bagger and Ill never go back now. Makes me wonder what I saw in hanging onto those bars at high speed on my other bikes when it could be so comfortable with a fairing.

I bought a new (Bell) police-style helmet (www.bellpropolice.com) to replace my crappy one theygave me with the bike. Less buffeting with the Bell, since the wind doesn't get under it like the other one (closer to the beanie type).

Actually fairing types and windshields make a whole lot of difference in your example of bikes/boats/planes without these additions.

You not only have the force of the direct wind attributed to relative speed traveled, but you also are now being buffeted with the compounded wind force of an aerodynamic shape realesing its wind force on to you.

Place your head in any of those vortexes and you will get extreme vibration to the helmet, which in turn will cause you to experiance blurred vison.

Remedies are to find the air bleed over and reduce or eliminate it.

And as been said, everyone believes the helmet buffeting is caused only by air over the windshield.

When in most cases it is actually air under the fairing and up your torso, causing a low pressure area, that then causes the air over the windsheild to vortex right at the breakpoint of the windshield, which then really slams into your head and helmet.

You ever really want to have a learning experiance, spend a day or twoat a wind tunnel, and watch how moving air reacts to shapes placed in it.

It is unreal the difference in height of a 1/16" can make in wind patterns over and around a surface.
And it is also pretty extreme what moving air does once it clears a surface, or aerodynamic shape.
