Ok first I know that there are tons of threads touting these speakers, but I had to put in my $.02... I sent Pez an email about a week or so ago asking a question. He didnt email me back, but my phone rang about 20 minutes later. He answered all my questions, and the big thing for me, sold me what I needed, (a set of speakers, even though I could have easily been talked into an amp ! ), and hell we even bullshitted a bit about Myrtle Beach etc. Speakers came in and I got around to putting them in yesterday. Easy installation, everything fit like a glove. All you have to do is hold a hogtunes speaker in one hand and a stock in the other and you know its going to sound a lot better. I installed my Sirius sportster with a RAM mount, piled the ole lady on the back of the Ultra and off we went. I was impressed with the sound using my Sirius unit, but then switched toa CD. Wow. Cruisin down the Highway about 80 listening to Allman Bros "Whipping Post" , sound was an unbelievable difference. Ok sorry to drone on, but I can't say enough about this guys product and customer service. Restored my faith in Vendors !! I see him in Myrtle....many beers.....on me !
I want a set too! And I'll be cranking that exact tune-Excellent choice in music

Pez is great to deal with. My 05 EG Classice I added the amp plus the rear speakers. I can hear now and I'm 1/2 deaf.

TrueHarley, to take the Fairing Off is a 5 minute job. 7 screws. Get the Service Manual or I will email you the page from my. Off to work now and can do it later if needed.

Quote "A quick question. I went to the web site and looked at the speakers. Do you need a amp for just the 2 front speakers? I don't see how it would be louder by just changing speakers? For $99 it would be great to hear the music at 70mph. I have a 06 Street Glide without a tour pack."

You do not need an amp for just the 2 front speakers. If you look at the stock speaker and then the Hogtunes you will see a big differencein the size of the magnet. It is hard to believe the difference by just swapping out the speakers. It is by far the best spent $99 on my bike.

Just purchased my speakers and amp. It cost $325 for the amp and front speakers. You have to contact them directly to purchase this option. I can't wait to recieve them. I hope it was worth the money. Hogtunes recommended that I get the amp since I owned a 06 SG.

Most say the amp is not a big improvement since it is 48w vs. 40w for the stock unit. The speakers sound great with the stock stereo components.

For those of you with the newer HK units, be sure to upgrade your firmware to 8.19 (http://www.harley-davidson.com/cp/moar/en/software.asp). I noticed a meaningful sound improvement after doing it, with much less distortion at high volume levels, and the source-memory problem plaguing 8.11 is mostly gone.

Ok they are on the way, Now some basic instructions on how to get into the fairing. I think I can figure out the rear. Thanks
Seven screws: 3 around windshield, 2 below the grips (rear of fairing), and 2 recessed below the triple-tree. Remove the middle WS screw last and if you have passing lamps cover them with a towel to protect the fairing's paint. To remove the last two on the above list, turn the handlebars to access them. They're hard to get to and will probably require a 1/4" ratchet with a long extension. When putting it all back together, check rubber insulation and make sure no wires are out of place. Be careful re-inserting the screws, as they're easy to cross-thread.

What was the reason an '06 SG needs the amp?

I don't think it's the power as much as it is the Maxxbass circuitry in the Ultrasound amp. While I do notice that the volume is louder overall with the amp, the main difference is that the sound is much fuller. That makes for a better experience for me since I am a bass and drum junkie. On most rock tracks, I can now feel the bass drum thumping through my grips at a stoplight. Very cool. I agree though that the speakers alone are a great upgrade for most people, but if you listen to CDs/MP3s a lot while riding and are used to listening to systems that have subwoofers or a lot of bottom end, the amp is a worthwhile addition. Just my $.02

I sent an email to Hogtunes and this is what they sent me back. I hoper they don't mind reposting an email. It was my choice to go ahead and add the amp. I don't want to go back and say " damb, I should have got the amp also". Pez seemed to be a great guy and responded to my email fast. As the email says it depends on the windshield you have. The 4" does not deflect the wind enough and it is hard to hear music. I also have a 10" I put on for long trips. It help alot cutting the wind noise and comfort. I will be sure to give an update when I get the system and install it.

Email:
Think of the speaker improvement like changing the cams. You cant see the improvement but you can hear and feel the change. By picking the correct parts, we can make speakers paly alot louder "per watt" which is reffered to as being more effecient.

HD has been releasing software updates for the radios--I have them all here--they will make a noticable improvement! The amp and speakers as a kit have been very popular with the Street Glide guys, and is what I would suggest--I will offer the money back on anything anyone buys direct from us. The amp and speakers is $325 delivered. The speakers only is $107.45 delivered--both quoted are members prices.

The amp and speakers is not available off the site--so if you want that, please let me know and we can set the deal up easily by email. If you want the speakers only, the discount link for members is at www.hogtunes.com/membersdealpage.htm

No matter what you do, a taller than stock windshied will always helpthe audio system on Street Glides--Hope to hear from you soon--PEZ
