Flat black has been around a lot longer than Chrome ****** have. Chrome won't get you home, but most chrome ****** don't ride very far from home so they don't worry.

On my second Black denim Harley and I love it.

I too love the denim paint. Mine is crimson red denim and I mixed with chrome accessories, I get compliments all the time. Don't see many like it. Btw, I traded my black denim fatboy for it. Very easy to maintain.

Not true for my 2012 Denim Black Street Glide. I spilled gas all over my tank and did not get any spots. Actually, the gas dried up before i could get it cleaned off. Don't know about earlier bikes.

I'm with murph. I've blasted my Bob with gas a few times and it's fine.

True.

I've been told the first generation black denim did not have any protective additive to the paint. If you touched it with your bare skin it would leave an oily mark in the paint. Supposedly, that all change sometime around 09. They added a type of clear coat protective additive the the color. Which changed the actual color of the denim black. I found this out when I had my new CVO fender painted this past week. I was informed by my painter HD changed the color code around 09. Just FYI.

The only thing that ive noticed is that they may scuff just a bit more. Where a shiny finish will scratch easier. Could just be my imagination also. I get a little nervous applying a lot of elbow grease into a bug splat on fear of making it shiny.

try soaking a large towel with water. I mean dripping wet..(lol).. Anyways, lay that over fairings, gas tanks, bags, etc. let it sit for awhile. It helps take bugs off without chemicals. Warm water works better.
