I too love the denim paint. Mine is crimson red denim and I mixed with chrome accessories, I get compliments all the time. Don't see many like it. Btw, I traded my black denim fatboy for it. Very easy to maintain.
Same here, I get compliments all the time, I think it's such a different color of denim than most people usually see. It's all about getting the right mix of black, denim, and chrome.
Maybe in ohio....here in ga, they are selling at a premium.
Same here in SE Idaho they sell quick and have had several special orders. I love the old hotrod look. Anybody who says they are harder to clean and maintain is full of BS.
I get gas on mine all the time....... Never stains. I do however always keep a bottle of water and a small rag in my saddlebag just to wet it and blot the area where the gas spilled. One of my favorite things about it, it the way is sort of "seasons" it gets it's own type of sheen to it after a while...... Hard to explain what it is.
Lol..... I have the same model and color, with a few mods, how'd you sell that "old" thing and get such a good trade?
It was a new dealership 3 hours drive from my house but within 20Min from my inlaws so win win for me. They offered the $18,000 to me over the phone and without ever seeing the bike. FX Caprara Harley in Adams Center NY rocks!!!
I've been told the first generation black denim did not have any protective additive to the paint. If you touched it with your bare skin it would leave an oily mark in the paint. Supposedly, that all change sometime around 09. They added a type of clear coat protective additive the the color. Which changed the actual color of the denim black. I found this out when I had my new CVO fender painted this past week. I was informed by my painter HD changed the color code around 09. Just FYI.
That's really good to hear cuz in two yrs I'm going for a DB SG, might even consider the crimson.....I've even considered turning my vivid into denim, never saw a RK in denim....why the hell not? If I could find a local indy that I could trust I would leap in a heartbeat. Really hate swirls in mc paint.
I love my Denim Black. I have slopped gas on it and never have any stains. The newer Denim colors are clear coated. Very easy to clean and maintain. I like to use a detail spray of Lemon pledge on mine now and then. It darkens the paint up a bit and gives it a hint of a sheen that really makes it pop.
