When I had my noise that sounded like it was coming from the primary/trans, I changed my primary to 20/50 oil, and had a quart of belray 80 w gear saver oil, so I figured WTF, I give it a try.
Not sure about in the primary.
I have it in the tranny, red 80W.
Run their primary chain case in primary for 2 changes, won't go back to any other brand, good lubricant in my mind.
Smooth shifts, less noise and always find neutral.

I used regular 20w50 engine oil in the primary. I swear folks here do that, will it screw something up?
I've read every oil thread and I've never heard of that one....I would stick with whats tried and true.
I have heard of the belray brand, it's actually advertised on the Stern show. I happened to have a quart in my garage, and thought,80w should be good, I'll give it a go. I haven't ridden it yet, but if something seems off, I will change it back out to formula plus..
Belray states that it is not compatible for wet clutch use. It will work in the trans, not the primary. Many run 20/50 in the primary as long as it's rated for wet clutches.
