Is there a set of mono tubes out there that are adjustable after installation with a ****? I saw a set like this on a magazine, but they were for Dynas only I believe.
I just saw them in BIKE magazine, but it was for Dynas. I have had mine in for three years and I love them combined with the 940 shocks. They were a little stiff at first but either I have adjusted to them or they have "worn in" so that I enjoy them.
Thanks everyone for all the replies and helpful advice. I still think I'm gonna give em a try. I've lived with stock all this time, I can't imagine they're worse for me than that. and I want to be rid of the air crap, and I actuall do want to firm up the front end. so, they may be just the ticket for me. I'm not a stubborn guy about most things, and I can admit defeat, so if they suck, i'll come back and tell you guys they suck so you can say I told you so.
They're much stiffer you'll notice that for sure. I installed using both "C" clips that come with the kit. That's the "universal" setting. I guess if you want to mess with it try just one. I believe one clip will lower it a bit but don't quote me.
More importantly I never noticed any brake dive on my stock set up. Just never really paid attention to it. But I went out riding today with some friends and as we pulled up to a stop light the guy next to me applied his brakes suddenly and his front end dived big time.
Does anyone have the installation instructions for the mono tubes? for some reason i can't find them online and the kit i ordered didn't come with them
I have officially had it with the absolute crap stock front end on my road king, and from the research I have done over the last few days, it looks like I've probably decided that the best money to spend considering price vs performance is probably going to be the monotubes. I know there is probably better. I also know I am not spending a grand or more to see if it's that much better. Any of you guys have anything overly bad to say about experience with these? Do we have a forum sponsor that deals these that could do a decent price? Thanks!
Personally I think they suck and you could do better. I plan to do Ohlin's this winter. Wish, really wish they had been out when I put the Progressive's in.
Have them on now for two full riding seasons. Being a big guy seemed to spell doom for the stock setup with seals and oil. I took out at least 3 seals in the fork lowers when hitting a big bump or hole? Since i have run the monotubes. No leaky seals, good handling and no front end dive? She handles very solidly? My son also added them to his Roadking! He likes them as well? I still run stock sg shocks in rear but going to try something better? I only dropped mine 1" in front?
