Lol.... Seriously!

I'm a Florida boy myself...... I used to smash giant iguanas in Fort Lauderdale with my sporty on purpose when I was a teenager!

got a dog once with my engine guard (or, in this case, the crash guard). the dog spun around about 3 times then staggered off (as seen in my rear view mirror).

That's damn near the same scenario as last night. Instead I blasted him with my floorboard, he hit it hard enough that it folded up and smacked the shifter. I had to ride off with my foot hanging.

I've played this in my head a few times since last night..... Could have really ended up poorly. The irony is, I literally just got my wife (and myself) back on the bike since my best friend just got killed near KC on his bike early April..... Then this happens! I could die walking up the stairs this morning, so I'm not gonna quit riding on the logic my friend being killed.

The way I see it....... If the little dog and myself had gotten beat up by a dumb little accident, it couldn't have happened with more style than a street glide!

Used to work at the space center, at night. Hit many raccoons, possums and avoided many huge gators.
Just like riding in town, gotta stay offensive while being defensive!!
Glad yall made it thru the doggy encounter op.

When I ran motorcycle tours in ecuador dogs would come running out at us all the time. I found the best thing to do was to aim straight at them as soon as you saw him make his move.... this would invariably freeze him in his tracks at the least and often back him up... then I'd lean the bike over and head back to my original line... grabbing a handfull of throttle as I went pased him would usually shower him with ping pong sized rocks coming off of the knobby tire... hopefully teaching him a lesson.

Much better than one of the guides I used at times, he would clip them with a footpeg and that would be the end of them... told him to quit that ****.

Pigs were a problem also, they are best avoided for obvious reasons...
Cows and Horses were often tied to a stake .... the stake might be on the other side of the road so when startled by a motorcycle they stand up and all of a sudden you had a rope sretched between a stake and a cow about head high .. can really ruin your day. You learned to slow down a not try not to startle them.
