Aux Power Port - Bus Error?!?
2007 Street Glide - Bought it used about a month ago. Today I bought the HD Auxiliary power port. It is a 12volt cigarette lighter type outlet that plugs into the gray connector under the right hand side cover next to the ECM (and in my case, also next to the power commander). I tried plugging in 2 different things - a 12 volt iPhone 5 charger, and a regular USB 12 volt adapter. Each time I plugged in either, on the odometer it read 'BUS Er' or something similar. The position of the accessory switch didn't seem to matter. I tried reversing the leads on the outlet and that didn't seem to have any effect...except when I tried to start the bike, the ignition fuse was blown...not sure why that would be though because I didn't think those two were on the same circuit, but I could be wrong.
I did some reading and it sounds like that BUS Er is a vague, general error. I would be very interested to hear from anybody who has run into this same situation, and if you were able to resolve it.
To go into further (boring) detail, what I'm trying to accomplish is to get one of those aux to Bluetooth adapters going so that I don't have to connect the mini plug to my iPhone. I have enough room under the seat to connect a mini plug run under the dash panel to a bluetooth adapter that is mini plug on one end, USB on the other end. Connect that to a USB 12 volt adapter, then plug that into my Auxiliary power port, throw all of that stuff in a water tight bag and jam it up under the seat...only there's something funny with my auxiliary power line. Everything else in my project is solid. I tested by connecting everything direct to the battery and it worked great, however I need it to turn off when the bike is off, so I need to get it on the other side of the main fuse.

Another option is probably to get inside the fairing and maybe clip on to the 12 volt adapter in there. Maybe that's a better way to go. By the time I invest in figuring out what's going wrong with my auxiliary port, I probably could have just replaced the stereo with something that has Bluetooth (and and amp...and better speakers).
With all the time you've worried over this problem, you could have long since wired it to the battery. You really need to know what you're doing if you're going to do it yourself. Wiring a 12 volt PowerPoint backwards can ruin everything you plug into it.
Wrong plug! the aux/acc plug is under the seat tucked in around the battery. The plug you are using I believe is for dealer to hook up computer for diagnostics / programming .... read your manual.

I did wire right to the battery with a second 12 volt outlet (not the HD one), and that works, but the thing I need to power is a bluetooth adapter, and I need it to shut off when I turn the bike off, otherwise it's going to drain the battery.
I'll pop the seat back off today. You guys might be on to something about it being the wrong plug. It's confusing that they would put two nearly identical deutsch connectors so close together, and sell you a power outlet that mounts right next to the one that you aren't supposed to plug in to.
The plug I'm connecting to is the one just to the right of the ECM in the picture, and I think you guys are right, it must be a diagnostic connection, otherwise, why have it next of the ECM...also explains why my ignition fuse blew when I was messing with this.
