In a pinch you could plug the tire to get to your destination. I carry a plug kit with some green goo and air pump for just such an occasion I got it at Wall mart for around 50 bucks. pliers gets the nail out then reem it and plug it. However I have never felt safe running with a plug in a bike tire at all. (on a car sure why not) it can be done and a lot of guys will swear by it but take this advise....... when it blows at 75 MPH will they be the one riding it? Tires and breaks you just shouldn't try and save money in that area....
Safe option: new tire or run a tube inside it if the wheel tire combo allows for that. (some wheels don't like a tube and can scrape the tube causing it to burst./////// but heres the catch,,,, if they strip down your bike and remove the tire to tube it the labor involved will be hi so you might as well do a tire. IMOP...aul.. p
you ever met or know anybody that has had a date with asphalt or concrete? if not think of this way, its your ***, elbows, hand palms and face cheeks that will get skinned if you go down because of a filed plug repair on a motorcycle tire..
Have you ever heard someone say "I plugged my MC tire and it failed"? No, me either.
I've plugged sport bike tires and they've held fine for the rest of the tread life. Now that I can afford it, I might replace the tire at my convenience but would have NO reservations about plugging it to get where I'm going.
In the mid 80's I plugged my rear tire. After about three months the plug blow out on the hi-way traveling 60 mph with a passenger riding B. The rear came around on me. Every time I touched my brakes the rear came around the other way. We were very lucky. I carry motorcycle plugs with me but plan to use it only to get me to a shop to replace tire.
i believe that they changed the esp in sep of 2013 to include a $50 deductible on tires now....
I've seen a few people posting that an ESP tire replacement cost them $50 so I figured something must be different.
I need to check and see if my old contract is still good for N/C tire replacement. Still, $50 is a whole lot better than what the dealer will charge. Probably $400+.

Thanks
the way i understand it, is that if you have the older plan with nc tire replacement, you are good until that plan expires. but the newer plans do not carry the 0 deductible. mine says nc, so that's what i'm going with
Probably since the newer frames use bigger, more expensive tires the insurance company was taking a beating on flat tires so they added the $50 for tire replacement.
To my recollection, all of your auto tire makers even recommend you don't plug tires anymore.
I plug tires only "May Pops" and as temporary repair and on lawn and garden equipment. Plugs are "NOT" dependable, and yes I've pulled hundreds out of car tires and patched them over because they were leaking.
In the end it's your life, but I started out busting tires and have dealt with tires all of my professional life and I'm plugging only in an emergency and then I'm discarding the tire.
