This might help ... See #13. I know many have plugged a tire in an emergency situation but I'd recommend following manufacturers suggestions ... FWIW :>)

I see that Dunlop doesn`t recommend using an inner tube for a permanent repair. I still don`t "get" as to why. Is there something special about a motorcycle tire which makes this unsafe? If so, why do so many people use Ride On without using a tube?

I put Ride-On in my rear tire after a puncture last year and rode it over a year before installing new tire this year. Did a tire inspection often and did not loose pressure during that time. To each his own.

Have you ever heard someone say "I plugged my MC tire and it failed"? No, me either.

I've plugged sport bike tires and they've held fine for the rest of the tread life. Now that I can afford it, I might replace the tire at my convenience but would have NO reservations about plugging it to get where I'm going.

from what I understand the place where the valve stem comes out of the rim is different on tubeless rims than on rims designed to have tubes...that said, I hear they have been putting tubes in the HD tubeless spoked rims because they leak sometimes...and I have a tube type rim bike (spoked roadking classic) and got a screw in the tire and they (the dealer) pulled the screw and just replaced the tube without installing a plug...

You blow a tire in your car, you pull over, put on the spare and move on. Blow a tire on the bike and things get a lot more interesting real quick.

Will a patch/plug hold? Probably. But that little rubber contact patch is too important to me to risk it. I might complain about the price but I won't ride with a compromisd tire on my bike.

That's just my choice though.

Plug it if it's in the tread if on the side wall nope. I have and will ride on a plug never an issue.

If you had to pick your poison, would a patch be better than a plug????

I think a patch from the inside is way better than a plug from the outside. However, I personally wouldn't do either. I would be buying a new tire.
