Default New Clutch Cable and Not Enough Slack

Just replaced my Barnett S/S clutch cable with same length Magnum Black Pearl Cable. I have the adjuster collapsed all the way and still not enough slack to seat the cable in the lever perch, only getting about an inch or so of cable length at lever. Will loosening the adjustment at the clutch jam nut inside the derby cover give me the needed slack to seat the cable properly ? Seems like I had plenty of slack with the Barnett cable so curious why the new cable isn't giving me enough slack to install ? I only need about another half inch or so for it to clear the perch. Thank you for your help...

Yes...the adjustment at the clutch can effect available cable length. You actually need a little more cable to get the ferrule seated in the perch. Break the jam nut free and adjust the screw in to give you additional cable length to get the cable seated...then back the adjuster screw all the way out to start your clutch adjustment procedure.
