Friends don't let friends run 255s. Andrews 57 is the best current bolt-in for 103. If ya only want a tractor like boost Andrews 48s/Woods 222/S&S 551 are good choices.

I have the exact same question.

Curious why?

Any documented dyno comparisons published for shoppers like me and the OP?

Ok, somebody has to chime in on behalf of SE204's. I like 'em in my '11 Limited. They get happy at about 2800 and pull well as high as I ever wind it up. Any of the low/mid range cams and a good tune will make you happy compared to stock, IMO.

SE255 is a bolt in cam. The guy who did my head work wanted me to go with the 204s. But I said I am really happy with them in the 96. Let's discuss my goals for this build. After discussing what I wanted out of the build he said yes the 255s will work well for your goals but I also think the 204s will work too. Run the 255s and if you are happy stick with them, if not install the 204s. I still have the 255s.

Actually I got something I did expect out of the build, top end performance. I really did not care about it. I wanted low end touring grunt. I wanted to be able to ride through the mountains without shifting all the time fully loaded. The SE255 cams give me that torque. I rarely shift when out touring even on steep grades. I just stick it in sixth and go. I have plenty of torque from 2000 RPMs on up. What I got that I did not expect from doing the head work and bumping the compression was I bunch of top end performance. I hit 3000 RPMs and bam the thing takes off, I bounce the rev limiter in a hurry. Is it a 1/4 mile race bike, no, but it was never my goal. It is unexpectedly quick.

I like the added torque and power. All down low. There is ALOT more heat with these cams. Common complaint. I admit that I have a canned HD map with the screaming eagle pro tuner and a dyno tune my take care of the heat issues but after reading about the Andrews 57 it seems like the logical choice. I bought the SE-255 before the 57's were out..... I do my own work so the cost to change isn't huge also.

Yes. Love them. They are a non emission version of the se255 that everyone raves about. All the good, none of the bad. My peak torque is at 2400 rpm
