Yes...and "bolt in" is such a lie. Nothing involving motor work is "bolt in". Speaking from a guy who did his own cam job and downloaded a custom tune for the PC-V, i can tell you that its an unbelievably easy job to accomplish. The shims that you speak of are for the alignment of the cam gears. They are required for aftermarket cams. I didnt have to use any when I did my cam swap (maybe because the bike only had 361 miles on it), but they were included for me just in case. Do yourself a favor...seek guidance and recommendation from other sources. Already 2 or 3 times on this thread alone, I have seen incorrect information that would end up costing you thousands in unecessary damage and repairs to your engine. Youtube is your friend...Power Commander is your friend...Fuel Moto is your friend...dealerships are not. Good luck to you sir and enjoy.

Any good Tuners in the Sac area?? I think I'm now leaning toward the 57H

Why not just get a power commander that is truly plug and play? You wanna spend the same amount if not more to have a tuner do the same exact thing for your bike that a power commander will? And guess what...when you make more changes (you will eventually want more), you have to go back to the same tuner and pay the same labor twice....as opposed to the power commander having just to download a new map...free of charge. Its a no brainer to me...power commander is the way to go.

I didn't read all 9 pages.... But I've had 2 cams in my 103... Here is my review of both.

1st - SE stage 1 air intake, D&D Fat cat, and SE 255 cam
Tune - map from Fuel Moto
Lot more take off power. Low end TQ improvement, and bike would run strong through the mids..... I was very happy - at first..... Started wanting more, and put in a 777 woods cam

2nd - SE heavy breather, D&D fat cat, woods 777
Map from FM,
Still bolt in cam - did not change springs or anything.... Changed lifters cause everyone's advise was Mexico lifters aren't good lifters......
WOW!!! What a difference!!!! I honestly feel like I got as much low end as before, maybe more, maybe not - but at least the same.....
BUt, way more power mid range and top end!!!!!!

These are butt dyno results. I have put two dyno sheets on this post. A base dyno run HD ran with my 255s, and a dyno on the 777s from FM website...
I also made a comparison chart while I was making my decision....

Just my $.02

So there you have it....more proof that cams are not just "bolt on".

I have the 777 and I hate it. Too much of a loss on the low end for my taste. Im switching to woods 222 here shortly because i barely ever go over 3500..which is just the spot to where those 777s start to wake up.

Cams are all subjective... I know that some will give you huge numbers and some won't but in the end. Im staying with SE just for warranty purposes. I know I can get better numbers elsewhere but in the end game I'm on a touring bike, not a dyna...

Im not trying to hotrod or do bagger wheelies I just want functional pulling power when Im riding alone or with a passenger... oh and I want a functional 6th gear.

My bike is currently in the who doing the stage 3 SE Kit.

SE big bore 10.5.1 Pistons
SE259e Cams
SE High Compress Value Springs
SE Perfect Fit Push Rods
SE Super Tuner

Installed Equip

MGS True Duals Loud Baffle
RSD Turbine A/C

Ill keep you posted with the numbers but Im sure I will be happy.

And with the 255s and head work my bike takes off at 3000 RPMs. I mean zing I bounce the rev limiter. It's why I never upgraded to the 204s. I want the bottom end they provide. I'm sure my bike would be even quicker with a different set of cams, but quick was never the goal, stump pulling bottom end torque was and still is. The top end is just fun to **** off my buddies that ride CVO 110s as I leave them in my rear view mirror. But honestly I don't care about it other than passing on the Interstate is really nice.
