Default oil leak

I seem to have had a pesky little oil leak for a while now. I have cahnged fluids, using new O rings every time and torquing to specs. Still had just a drop every so often in my garage or at work. Had even taken to the dealer when it was still under warranty and they changed a gasket on something on front of motor. Still got drip!
A fellow rider at work told me that his oil pan was loose, so I thought I would check it. I had a couple of bolts not to tight at all. Pulled each on out, put some blue loctite on each one, and torqued them by manual, Bammm! no leak.

A trick I learned here on this forum is to sprinkle baby powder in any area where you suspect the leak may be occurring. I just tracked down a recent leak and found it to be at the stator plug and even though there was nothing wrong with the stator, I had to replace it due to this leak at the seal where the plug exits the primary housing. $250 dollars to replace a perfectly functioning part. Anyway the baby powder trick works pretty well, it will show a wet spot at the leak pretty quickly.

Good luck finding it. That's half the battle.

I guess I didn't finish reading your post. You found and fixed the problem. Good for you.

I had the same problem on my '06. When I changed exhaust,I noticed there were a couple bolts on the pan that I could've spun out with my fingers!

Sorry to tell you about that stator. My buddy fixed his stator wire leak with $3 worth of black RTV. Cleaned up the area with brake cleaner, then used a screwdriver to poke RTV all around and under that "grommet". Been leak free for a couple of years now.
