thanks for the heads up i think that switch was changed once allready will look into that and i did change grips two years ago. it feels like the grips though you know sometimes you just get that feeling something ain't right.
If you didn't shim the brake lever when changing your grips you may have damaged the brake switch.
Do a search on the forum for TT418. You've got bad connections on the throttle body or ecm more than likely. Also the grip sensor may be bad or the wiring from TGS to ecm.
When mine was doing that it would do it when I was making a turn from a stop and had the bars turned. The dealership tried to fix it 2 or 3 times. I finally got tired of it and started pulling on wires trying to find the problem. When I wiggled the harness that runs along the right side of the neck I got the ck eng light with similar codes. I took it back to the dealer and wiggled the wires for them and recreated the problem. The tech investigated the area and found broken wires in the harness. Problem solved.
Later on I had about the same problem with limp mode and the dealer replaced the pins on the throttle body connector and a few on the ecm connector. I haven't had a problem for almost a year. Before, I was having a problem every month or so.
thank you for the info. i checked the error codes the way you said and i got two codes both from the first code (p1510-limited performance mod) second (p2138-TGS correlation error twist grip sensor) i am going to check on replacement of the sensor and see what happens. thanks again for you help.
I just fought this issue for hours upon hours. I replaced my TBW because it was getting "notchy" when you rolled the throttle. After replacing the bike would either start with the light on or come on. I would watch the check engine light as I was messing with the connector so I knew that was where the issue was. On each connector I had to force the pins forward from the back of the connectors and electrical tape each connector with several wraps so they would stay snug and the pins were pushed forward as far as possible. Once I plugged them together I gave a couple push/pulls/jiggles and everything was fine. I also put di-electric grease in the connectors in the beginning but that didn't make a difference until I pushed the pins forward. YMMV.
