Hey Road Glide guys...I've read stuff on here about getting buffeting on stock RG's. Is it coming from over the top of the shield? When I sat on one at the stealer it appeared to be perfect (the top was just below my eye line). It looked to me that wind could come in from the bottom of the fairing where the forks are and cause this.
I have buffeting and it comes from the lower fork area. I have a
set of leather chaps I use on the engine guardsin the winter and
no buffeting. I am thinking of a set of HD lowers but I don't want
the heat. So for now I just put up with it.
I use a standard height 57958-98 trimmed down about 2"s and a shorter 58753-01 neither one causes me a buffeting problem. I've seen RGs with a huge 'bubble' shield which I think is 58283-04 and I wonder if that's the windshield that's causing all the grief??
Here's a bike with the bubble!!
Here's a pic showing the shape of my summer shield.
Dumped the stock seat and went with a Sundowner also lowered the front 1 1\4 and the rear 2 1\4 - Stock wind shield NEVER a problem (wear a shortie or a brain bucket helmet & never a problem with wind kicking it back with both shields) - Shorty a bit - but not near as bad as I get on my RK with the stock windshield
That's why I'm looking hard at the Clearview Wind Shield - Heard there Shortie Shield has the even better wind protection then the stock RG shield????
I have the Clear view 1 inch shorter than stock. I'm also 6'4 and it works great. One thing to note is that I also ride with a HD rallyrunner seat which sits me lower and further back.
