Default Is it only me or...

On my new Limited I don't trust the kick stand.
When I clean the bike and I fully turn handles to the right I have this strange feeling that this stupid stand will fold up and let the bike fall on it side.

Is there some kind of a lock that I don't see to prevent the stand to fold up when the weight of the bike is on the stand?

Funny you say this...

I double check my 2014 SGS stand each time I swing it down to be sure it's all the way forward and then I carefully lay the bike onto it. I feel like it swings back in the up position a little too easily.

Check the stand up by where it pivots, you will see a notch which prevents it from going back up. This notch is the reason why you can park the bike on a slight downhill.

Yes, it does lock in place.
As long as there is a load on the stand it will not fold up.

Have a buddy hold your bike upright while you lay down and take a close look at the stand.
You'll notice it is spring loaded, and when you pull the stand (to simulate side loading) you will notice it locks into place and can't fold up.

As long as that weight is on the side stand, you can push your bike across a parking lot without the stand folding up.

It's not only you. Everyone doubts the "jiffy stand" at first. But yes it locks and yes it's strong.

Talking

I had that anxiety over my first Harley, way back. I parked the bike on various steep hills to test it and found that it would drag the stand with it, forwards or backwards, but not fall over. Take a deep breath and relax man!

I thought the same thing when I first started riding Harleys. I just made sure it's all the way forward before leaning and when turning the bars I make sure its locked in place.
