jUST DISCROVERED THAT MY ANTTENA WIRE RUB THROUGH, WAS GOING TO REPLACE BUT THE TASK IS A MAJOR EFFORT, AND THE DEALER WANTED 3 HOURS LABOR TO INSTALL A NEW 13 DOLLAR CABLE. HAS ANY ONE USED DAKOTA DIGITAL OR TUNE TRAPPER ANTTENA'S AND HOW WELL DID THEY WORK.

I use the Tune Trapper on my bike, it works great, I receive all of the stations I did before including weather stations. I think the powered antennas like the Dakota Digital are just a gimmick.

I have used a Tune Trapper and a Dakota Digital both. I got to do them side by side and with the whip. Niether will be quite as good as the whip, but both are adaquate, and worth the little bit of loss suffered without the whip, if you like a clean look. The Dakota Digital is powered and the Tune Trapper is not, but there really wasn't that much difference in the reception between the two.

The antenna I just put on the wife's new Street Glide is a powered antenna much like the Dakota Digital, but only cost 39.00 from a local stereo shop. It is the one that they use for boat stereos. It seems to actually be a little better than the Dakota Digital that I have on my bike, but still not quite as good as the whip.

We have XM radio, so the AM/FM isn't that big a deal anyway.

Regards,

Bill

I just bought a $10 shorty antenna from the local auto parts store and strapped it on top of the stereo inside the fairing. Don't know about long distance, but locally it seems to work just fine.

Just installed Tune Trapper, works great, also while I was at it, installed a headlight modulator, a plug and play off of ebay around 62 bucks to my door. Spent about 100 bucks and am happy.

I bought antenna tape made by Shakespeare from West Marine. Costs about $35.00 and I taped it underneath the inner fairing. Gets much better reception than the HD whip or a shorty antenna.
