A buddy of mine has a 99 Road King with the 88 ci engine. While riding the other day the engine started making a loud noise. Pulled over and had the bike towed to a local indy. Today he found out that the cam bearing let go and there is metal all through the engine. The Indy says he needs to get a reman engine. The Indy wont do engine work during the summer months. He just does what's needed to keep bikes on the road. Anyone have any ideas where to start looking for a replacement engine?
or check the classifieds here ( right now i see a 124" all the way to 95"...) or craigslist.
I see take off complete motors for sale all the time- most of them are 103's, some 96's
the HD reman program is good, i have watched the reman techs do a couple of motors and they are quick to replace just about anything with new.
the drawback is that the program requires (or did) that the motor be pulled an installed by a dealer- which doubles the cost.
