When I bought my street glide 2007 it had the PC III already installed, however I had some heat issues just under the seat.
I installed the kuryakyn heat deflector and although I do not feel any heat under the seat the heat transferred to my calf (left side).
Also my wife complains that her ankle will be "fried".
Any ideas for how to solve this problem?
Should I replace the exhausts (in order to reduce the heat) - which one should I install (Vance and Hines)???
Replace exhaust heat shields?
Just having a PCIII installed doesn't necessarily mean its tuned favorably. I'd start with verifying the tune. Options for mitigating exhaust heat include, AFR enrichment, ceramic coating, wrap, midframe heat shields, and heavier clothing.
I removed my Rinehart True Duals and went with the Samson Hell Raisers. They're a right side 2 into 2 pipe like most non baggers. The heat issue is almost non existent as the rear pipe dumps out forward and below me. I don't feel near the heat as I did with my Rineharts.
I was thinking that if I install one of the following exhausts full system or headers the heat issue from the right side rear pipe will not be a problem:
Any suggestions?
I understand that the sound is a very subjective matter, however my concern is the heat issue to be at minimum level and performance wise ( I am aware that this is an air cooled engine and heat will always be there).
As regards the pcIII I will arrange to check same at another service center.
Since you won't listen to the suggestion about verifying your present tune, I see nothing but trouble with the road you are about to go down. Have fun.
Perhaps I was not clear in my previous msg.
I already arranged to verify the PC III tune (thats why I said I will arrange to check same at another service center).
However I beleive that by changing the exhaust system will further reduce the heat issue, thats why I am asking which of the above systems is "better".

Thanks
There is no "better". It is all a matter of personal preference.
If there was such a thing as the best pipe out there, that one would probably be the only one left on the market.
They are all going to hot enough to burn the skin off your hand/leg if you touch them. LOL
imo 07 is the hottest leanest running bike hd ever made, i started with a pcv and wrapped the crossover pipe,it rusted.next i picked a 2-1 to keep the heat from melting my wifes right boot.then added rj originals heatsheilds, they give a little better coverage than the hd or kury, captian itch also makes a good heatsheild. the 2-1 i chose runs the rear pipe forward os the trans.
