That's why I use the 9500ix, not for the speed part as I rarely go more then 10 over the limit. Every week or so I connect to my PC and download the latest camera locations, seems they're everywhere now and everyone around here knows they're NOT for safety, they're for money. The Passport alerts me in plenty of time.

Radar detector is uselss, cops have you with the pulse radar and there is no way for a radar detector to catch that. Just set your cruise 5 over and ride all day. I don't see the point of going 10-20 over just to get there. To each their own I guess.

Passport Max in one car and a 9500ix in my other car. You can't beat the gps feature especially with all the red light and speed cameras that they keep putting up. Radar detectors offer no protection against laser. Once you're hit with laser you're caught. If you want protection from laser then you need laser jammers (such as laser interceptor).

Been running a RD in my truck for years and has managed to warn me whenever radar is working.
Just added a Rocky Mountain RD to my Ultra but had to didconnect it because I have a Brightass TL. Seems the RD puts something on the power leads that makes my BA TL inoperative.
RD plugged in, no BL.
Disconnect the RD and the BL works.
Tried it with everything else disconnected.
Still no TL.
Seems a bike with Brightass TL and Rocky Mountain RD will screw up the BL.
Had to disconnect the RD.
Works fine with a regular TL, just doesn't work with a Brightass TL!

I really try and steer clear of these "work", "don't work", discussions, but sometimes it gets difficult so I will just say I love my radar detectors. I have owned all brands through the years and several types of most brands.

I do know that a lot of people not only have misconceptions of radar detectors but also a lot of misinformation . One being that a door opener works on the same x-band frequency as a radar detector, this is not true, while there are openers and such that work within the same x-band range, they are not the same frequency. They will set off radar detectors because of this, but some detectors give the actual frequency of the signal, and with this info you would know what is being detected.

Again, not going to Yay or Nay either side because it is a winless discussion, so I am only trying to give a little info. Escort Live is also an app for iPhone or Android, that connects to some of their detectors and also anyone else with the app to provide more info of additional coverage.

I forgot to give a little more "opinion" you should take that Rocky Mountain detector and throw in the exact same place that you threw your money when you bought it, which was and is the trash can. I hate to say that, but you have purchased the worst detector probably ever made. I guess I have bought over the years 5 or 6 of their units (to include their supposed to be "jammers") for testing and when I was done with them I didn't even give them away, I threw them in the trash, they are junk.

I have 3-9500IX's, 3-Passport Max's, 2-ZR3's, 2-ZR4's, and 1-Blinder with 4 Live cords, installed in my vehicles and would not hesitate to buy them again. I do not and have not had one on any of my motorcycles, I have thought about it several times, just never done. None of the ones I would use (if I did) are waterproof and it would stink to have a $600 detector caught in the rain, but I may just buy a mount and run one next year for some testing, because I do test a lot of electronic equipment.

While Valentine One is very good radar detector (I have owned 2) I would not say the best, and only one detector owns the patent for the frequency display that I mentioned earlier, and for this and many other newer innovations and technologies used I would call them the best, but this is an opinion, and believe me, my opinion means nothing.

To those that say "All the police are only using Laser now". That's just not true. In my area the cops still use traditional radar. However my Valentine 1 also detects laser. And I think most of the higher end detectors sense laser.

When I'm driving longer distances I get alerts from radar and laser. Again, I have chosen to use my detector only in my car. On the Ultra I'm more conservative with the speed and I'm not the vehicle a cop will pull over.

I call them "stress detectors"...rode w/my bro in his big rig and it was extremely annoying + stressful seeing and hearing the thing go off all the time. Maybe some people still believe they're effective in today's technology age, but not really worth the coin. I cruise for enjoyment and relaxation...not dodging LEO's and speed traps.

When I retired there was no such thing as moving Laser. Moving Radar absolutely but Laser requires looking through a viewfinder and targeting an area on a vehicle. Also Laser does not work very well through glass. So unless there has been some of recent invention Laser is only being used when the LEO is stationary
