Default Replacing the sliders

I have a pair of sliders that I want to swap out for some PC'd black ones. I have all the parts (including new seals and service manual), and I'm ready to go. Do I need to remove the entire leg from the triple tree, or can I just pop the old slider/cowbell combo off and put the new ones on?

Yes you have to pull the whole shock of, cause you'll need to get to the seals that the cow bells cover, and you have to pull the shock off to get the cowbell off.

Meh. Ok. Thanks for the quick reply. Hoping that I could save a couple hours of labor, but whatever. If I wasn't willing to wrench, I wouldn't have started this project!

It's not bad at all. You have a bit less stuff to take apart than me. Putting fender on is annoying if you don't have an extra hand. Make sure you don't put the seal in upside down. Take note when you are taking the old ones out. And check your slider bushings or just replace them. You can make a seal driver with a PVC pipe. When I did my '05 I had to drill out the bottom bolt (6mm). Oh and replace the crush washers on the bottom bolt!

Might as well change the springs to Monotubes or ones from Motorcycle metal or something
