Default Progressive 412's 11.5 (The Truth)

Guys, I know everyone has their opinion on products but I want to tell my HONEST opinion on the Progressive 412's. I purchased the Progressive shocks when my stock shocks developed a seal leak. I purchased the 11.5 HD shocks as a replacement because I wanted it lower because I'm only 5'7". The ride is so hard and rough on every setting that I couldn't take it anymore. I now have replaced them with new OEM replacement shocks and it's back to riding like the SG I purchased new. I have 45,000 miles on it. The straw that made me change back to the stock shocks was my recent weekend trip to Chattanooga, TN. That was 1200 miles of torture. (Jacksonville, Florida to Chattanooga, TN and then the Dragon Run)

Not to contradict you but going with the HD shocks might have been to stiff.
I do not own progressive shock but when I called them they said don't go with HD's unless your packing 400+ lbs on the bike.

I'm 205 pounds and ride solo most of the time. I do a long over nighter once a month with my club.

i always recommend that you talk with the company selling the product, but i can tell you that they will recommend staying away from the heavy duty springs and stick with the standard. i weigh about the same as you, and that's what they told me.

Just had an email conversation w/Progressive today. Told them refering to standard and heavy was not enough as there are at least 4 springs that fit the 412's. He told me the standard is 90/130 pounds. which makes sense because the 105/150's I have on there now ride rough. I have a '13 flhp. I weigh 185

I have been chomping at the bit to make that trip, but may wait until early call. I too live in jax (westside). Always looking for people to ride with.

another factor is 11.5" shocks , anytime no matter the brand , you go lower , you give up travel which makes them ride harder , I would not go below a 12" shock if it were me , modify the seat to sit lower

OK, not to sound like an ***, but you are too light for the heavy duty shocks. Anyone at Progressive would tell you that you need to weigh AT LEAST 225 lbs before upping to the heavy duty shocks. Don't blame the shocks if your not running the right ones. You should be on the standard duty shocks at your weight.
