Mine bothers the right side of the back of my calve and ankle.
It is quite annoying to say the least.
Very roasty.

Have both kinds of heat deflectors too.
Capt. Itches and RJ's.
Neither one seem to help much.

I take mine off in the summer, I also have the Wards fans and use them in traffic, they do help a lot.

I have the old original Road Glide lower fairings with NO vents. Since adding these to my scoot, they have never been off.

Some folks may think different, but it's proven that with lowers on, you will have a cooler running motor. These things were designed to induct the air towards the motor, as well as many other things. Wind, rain protection, speakers, etc.

In the warmer months, sure it gets warm. But as Long as your riding and moving there's no problem. Of course when stopped at a stop light, heavy traffic, it's going to get hot. What would one think, we are sitting on a motor.

A proper tuned motor, removing the cat, Wards engine cooling fans will also help to make all the difference in the world.

Mine stays on for 3 seasons. I normally take mine off when it's fairly warm out. I also have the quick detach kit so it's easy for me to remove.

I hooked up temperature probes to the pipe last weekend - removing the lowers takes over 100F from the running temp. They are off till Oct/Nov.

It isn't going to hurt to take them off or leave them on....

But your engine gets more air with them ON.

I've never taken mine off for anything other than cleaning or changing pipes.

I leave mine on and just try to avoid stop and go city traffic, on the highway on the highway pegs.
