You know, there just are some things us here on the forum don't really need to know, know what I mean? Vern!

check yellow pages for paintless dent repair.
some body like dent magic.
They claim they can remove small dings (like hail damage) without removing it
or needing to repain it.
Never tried them myself though

Been there and done that. 1972 Honda CB350. did my first cross country on that beast. Clearwater FL to Erie PA (1,500+ miles) at theripe ole age of 16 years. ahhh, those were the days...........bullet proof body and no brains....... bought that baby brand new, tax, tag, and title for $875.25 cash!!! just spent twice that for a full Corbin seat setup. I must be getting old or something.

ORIGINAL: robbitybob

I did a similar thing back in 1972! I had just ridden my 350 Honda about 300 miles. When I puilled up in the driveway, friends and family watching, Islowed to smooth stop and . . .just . . . never put my footOR the kickstand down! Pretty funny to watch but not to do. I felt like that little guy on the tricycle on Laugh In!

I was installing my headlight after having it out for some reason that I can't recall. Anyway, I put the headlight in the fairing, it felt pretty secure. I turned around to grab the screws, and it fell on the very top center of the fender. Lucky I had drapped a doubled towel on top of the fender to protect if anything dropped on it. It caused a dent very similar to a hail stone, concave and round, about 1/2" across. I took the bike to a paintless dent repair place, in 30 minutes and after giving them $75.00 (cash), it was good as new. Even looking close under a spotlight, it is not visible. He didn't remove anything to pop out the dent, just used a tool, and very gently, one nudge at a time, pushed it back to original shape. If a dent has no chipped paint or sharp creases, that is the option I would check out first.

I was cleaning my bike a couple weeks ago to take the first ride of the season. Finished everything and started on the tires. Cleaned the area I could reach, got on the bike and rolled it forward enough to get the rest. Well yes, the kickstand moved up enough to not be engaged and as I was getting off, it started to fall. I am 6'1" and 350lbs. Caught the bike and slammed myself into the wall. Held the bike up long enough to lower it on the engine gaurd, ever so gently. I was so mad, lifted the bike using only my upper body, and kicked the kickstand into place. The wife came running out because she had heard me hit the wall. Asked if I was okay, and all I could say was "Not a scratch on the bike!" Followed by,"told you I needed a damn bike stand". The next day I had a bruise on my shoulder the size of the ones I got in football...But the bike didn't have a single blemish. I was lucky. Could care less about me, but the bike...wellWE know what is important.

Do you have a vehicle auction nearby? If so, go visit them and find the folks that do paintless dent repair. Dent Wizard is popular in this area. They can work wonders without even removing the fender.

Peace,

I will definitely check out the paintless dent removal... Also gonna find a place to put a THINK sticker on the rig... Stupid weather is back in the 50's and rainy again, but with all the nice weather we just had, I found myself rushing to get on the bike, and that is just dumb.

No bruises, but my back was a little tight from righting the bike while straddling it. I think it had a lot to do with adrenaline. Lesson learned.

I did this already this season, hope it does not happen to anyone else.

Maybe you should just put a bullet hole sticker on the dent. Then have them all fix later on after you dump it a couple more times.
