Default 2014 Limited Handlebars

Hey gang. Fatbernie here. It's been awhile. I just picked up a 2014 Ultra Limited a week ago. Beautiful. Except the bars. All I want to do is roll them up maybe an inch or so to take some of the pressure off my shoulders and neck. What kind of a mess can I expect to get myself into if I attempt to get at the handlebar clamp myself? Outer fairing on and off for me is no problem. What happens next? Thanks.

Should be much the same as the older ones. You MIGHT be able to get by with removing the switch and small cap with the switches in it and just loosen the one (rear bolts) side of the clamp enough to adjust. Otherwise the outer AND the inner cap with the switches has to come off and the radio comes out to access the clamp.

I had a similar problem with my Glide when I first bought it, but adjusting the bars worked a treat - although it took a few goes to get them just right. So it's well worth doing! Have you looked for on-line videos? It's the sort of thing some kind soul may have posted.

@Fatbernie: I'm so glad you asked this as I was having the same issue myself and was a little daunted by all the fairing/etc... and wasn't sure how much of a PITA this would be...

I was trying to decide if a short ape hanger would be the way to go or is it just a riser to be added, did it on my Vulcan but everything exposed there, to bring the handlebars 1-2" closer... thoughts?

Doesn't look like risers would fit the bill here. No room. New bars probably the way to go. I just need a slight adjustment upward to make it just about perfect.

This is for onedownand5up and everyone else that's curious how this problem got solved. Mark, you were right. And a tech buddy of mine told me the same thing, so I tried it. With a little effort, I removed the ignition switch and the lower fairing cap with the switches in it. There they were. The two rear bolts for the bars. But the fairing was still in the way. So, I had to sacrifice an allen wrench by cutting it down almost to the bend just to be able to get it in under the fairing. And viola! Loosened the two rear bolts, rolled the bars up an inch or two, tightened and rode. Big difference. Anyone with low to medium skills can try this with little or no trouble. I should have took a picture but I forgot. Thanks again.
