Anybody cure the footboard vibes some of us have at 2200ish to 2900 ish rpm?
Personally i have done compensator, chain tensioner, all engine mounts torqued, multiple exhaust checks and re-torques... Cant seem to cure it.
Crank runout .002.
Nothing touching frame
Pull in clutch at speed... Goes away, rev motor up at speed with clutch in comes back.
Its not a deal breaker but i hate not knowing...
Chain slap?
hard to know from here if what you have is normal or a sign of something wrong......not sure why you say "09 and up"
you seem to have isolated the problem to the drivetrain and rpms- the 96 was introduced before 2009, and superceeded a few years later
uneven compression between cylinders, and even cam timing, pushrod adjustment and lifters can affect or introduce a vibration.
slop in the lower end bearings ( like from lugging)
having had a bunch of v twins ( HD, Duc, Guzzi), & opposed twins like the BMW airhead; motors just vibrate....my old Cadillac 429's bob around at idle due to uneven intake runner length
the design of the motor can move the vibrations up or down the rpm range, rubber mounts can dampen..balancing shafts which essentially introduce counter-vibrations can help.

When they added an extra engine mounting point, it changed the amount the engine can move. This restricted movement transfers to the frame, and the rider notices it more.
My wife has an 08 RG, and I have and 11. The difference is noticeable, but not what I would call bad.... just different.
Started after about 10000 miles. Seems like its coming from primary. Felt everything else when buzzing and strongest there. Shifter floorboard is where its noticable. Hardley any buzz on brake flooreboard.

If you put a SE compensator on it, the vibration will stop. Also, the hard starts when hot, and the bang when starting, and the sound of rocks in the primary. The SE comp with cure a lot of things.
New se compensator. New adjuster. All bearings in primary seemed fine. No slop no rotational noise or drag. Chain seemed fine ( no tight spots)
Footboard bolts just tight enough so floorboard flips up but no slop. Original footboard pads and they seem even when you push down with hand but thats an idea...
