Default Just bought a 2007 S/G and have a couple questions?

Hello folks, new to this section of the forum and just bought my first big twin in that of a 2007 Street Glide. I bought the Black Pearl bagger and immediately ordered a set of Rinehart True Duals for it. My questions are these;

[ul][*]I like the 90 degree pro breathersbut aside from the look do they flowas good asa SE Stage 1 A/C?[*]I know the stock seat sucked on myother bike, what are these stock 07 S/G seats like on the bum?[*]I ordered the Rinehart True Duals, can I use a HD Remap for the stage 1, or do I have to gowith a Race Tuner?[*]If I have to add a tuner, what is better, the PCIII or the SERT?[/ul]
We just got a fresh dump of snow here in Alberta, so the new scoot won't be home for a couple weeks. That and I am also waiting till the pipes are on and the stage 1 is complete. Then i'll bring her out and break her in. I am really looking forward to this new scoot since moving up from my XL50. Any advice on upgrades or things I should be looking at are appreciated.

Cheers!

G-man

As breathers go, I think its a toss up as to air flow, hd download is waste of money for your setup you need either SERT or PCIII to work right, you would need the dyno tune with SERT for sure making it more expensive than the PCIII if you bought it from FuelMoto with a free custom map for your exact part setup (total 291.00 w/shp) But a dyno tune with the PCIII is good too. Stock seat is good for a stock seat.

Congrats on the new scoot. I have the same setup so I see you have impeccable taste.
I agree with gunrunner on the breather, whatever moves you you cant go wrong.
My stock seat is pretty comfy and I'm 6'1 255 so no lightweight here. The ride on this baby is way better than my Heritage ST.
One last observation would be to go with the true duals, I have a little backpopping on decel which I can deal with for now but I will be going Fullsac or TD in the future.
Enjoy the new ride and let's hope the snow disappears soon.

I too have just bought an SG. I also put on a set of Rineys. I did a lot of checking around on the difference between SERT and PCIII. To make a very long story short, and for avariety of reasons,I have found for the 07's you wanna go with SERT. There are some interface problems with PCIII on the newer bikes. There is a ton of discussion on this happening on many boards like this one, and many are recommending SERT on the new rides.

If SERT is the way you decide to go, you wanna get on that, my HD dealer is telling me they are on back oder (hmmm, wonder why?) and you can't get your hands on one till mid may as it stands right now.

good luck dude.

Cause Harley never makes enough of anything. PCIII work just fine and have no problems if properly set up.

Lotta dudes are getting astart up delay with the PCIII's on the 07's. Some taking 3 to 4 revolutions before the eingine starts. Some believe not a problem, some believe it is. My opinion, why take a chance, go with SERT. Tons of discussion on this. Thereare also issues with the 02 sensors when using PCIII on the new motors that dont exist with SERT.

I've added an 07 HX to my garage lately and have delt with these issues also, so here is my perspective, and you can take it with a grain of salt if you want. I've put on a Mustang seat, Rinehart TD's, Ness BS AC, and a PC III from fuelmoto and I am waiting for another visit with Fred Eno.

I don't have any experience with the flow properties of the different air cleaners other than when I had Fred Eno aka Dr. Dyno tune my old scoot. He commented how little he liked them for getting an optimal tune out of a motor vs a Ness Big Sucker or SE AC

As far as the tuner to get, check around at the different shops with a dyno to see what they prefer or know. If everyone tunes a PC III and you get a SERT, orvisa versa, you might not get the most out of your investment or be totally pleased.

A replacement seat, along with a detachable back rest, was the first thing I had sitting in my garage before I took delivery. My wife never had to sit on the stock one other than on the show room floor. For comfort, I've never looked back.

I doubt if the difference with one over the other, if any, will translate into a performance change. FWIW, the SE A/C's are not cleanable, so instead you might want to consider the K&N or Ness kits, as both contain the cleanable K&N filter element.

[ul][*]I know the stock seat sucked on myother bike, what are these stock 07 S/G seats like on the bum?[/ul]
I found the stock SG seat okay, but not good enough for long rides, especially with the touring I do. I used Corbin on my old RK, but decided on Mustang for this one, and so far it is excellent. Will know more after a 4200-mile ride to the Grand Canyon, across TX, next month. If you do long rides, don't forget a backrest!

[ul][*]I ordered the Rinehart True Duals, can I use a HD Remap for the stage 1, or do I have to gowith a Race Tuner? [/ul]
I didn't go with Stage 1, but went directly to PCIII. I've had no hesitation issues that some have reported, nor is the delay a problem. Had I not read about this "delay" on this forum, I would not have known of its existence, as it starts much faster than my carbed RK. If this is a problem, start it immediately after switching ignition on and before the engine light goes off. I bought the mufflers (Rush 1.75"), K&N, and PCIII from Fuel Moto (www.fuelmotousa.com).

[ul][*]If I have to add a tuner, what is better, the PCIII or the SERT?[/ul]
Can't help with the superiority of one over the other, but I like the flexibility of the PCIII connected to my notebook computer. I can tweak each block (RPM/TP) as I want, and I've been doing that since installed. At this point gas mileage is decent at cruise and performance very impressive. Can't complain, except that PC documentation is weak. I understand a new manual is in the works.

I have to say that the PCIII really isn't a big problem on the newer bikes. All the talk is about the way the unit gets power up, and that is from the fuel pump circut. If you wait for the engine light to go out before you start there is a very slight delay. Engine might crank an extra time or time and a half. It is fine. The way you really want to pick what device you want to tune with is ask your Dyno Guy which one he prefers. Or if you like dinking around with it yourself then for sure you probably want the PCIII.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was going to order the Rinehart True Duals but apparently they are back ordered till at least mid June soI bought the Rinehart Slip Ons for the time being. I also bought a stage 1 A/C kit and I will be installing the Techlusion FI-1250ST Gen II TFI Fuel Injection Module for '07 EFI Big Twins. Further upgrades such as cams and heads will be coming later but this isall I have planned for engine mods this year. Theguy that will bedyno tuning this bike used to bewith Dyno Jet and he uses this module with a lot with his builds. Once it's broken in, we'll run a few baseline tests and hopefully the proof will be on the sheet. I am told this will work well with other mods planned for the future such as cams, heads and big bore kits so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. The Techlusion is adjustable, and it's only a few hundred bucks as compared with the SERT, so the price is right.I'll keep ya'll posted.
