Congrats on the new scoot. Couple things for thought, bring some rain gear and when you test ride the bike, make sure that seat is gonna be comfy for you. 900 miles is a long way.
Great advice everyone. I have printed out the posts with the suggested stops, and Ideas. Depending on weather we will see.
Rain gear, yup I am going to go buy some large contractor bags this weekend, the orange ones of course. (only kidding)
Last night I looked up the Garmin 660 that is from Harley and downloaded the manual and read some hands on reviews and YouTube. I will also bring my old by trusty Garmin just in case, and print out google maps also. I usually take a hard copy, electronics turn up missing, get wet and short out etc, too far to try and find somewhere to find how to get somewhere.
No bus, no amtrak I looked that up, and good gosh, trains are crazy expensive, I had no idea they cost more than a first class ticket with an eye candy escort.

Yeah, Amtrak is a joke! Has been for years and why rail travel is dead. Congrats and ride safe.
If you could hitch a ride on an 18 wheeler going up there, that would get you there on the cheap. Freight lines out of Birmingham areas go all over. Just another option...
