Default 2012 roadking vs 2014 road king

Hi! what are the major differences between these two? Reason being is because I found this used 2012 road king classic and its about $5K less than 2014. It has 3K miles and its from my local dealer.

Thanks

RK 14 has: Mount Rushmore engine/performance, linked brakes/anti-lock, led headlight, hard bags with easy open lids, tank badge, new wheels, better stock handlebars

5k is a big difference but in my opinion I would suck it up and go for the 14 if you can afford it.

Another major difference is the new 49mm forks and fork trees. The 2014 is either brand spanking new or almost, so is going to be comparatively expensive, but that is the one to go for, if you can manage it, IMHO. Too many good things were introduced on the '14s to pass over!

If you can afford the 14, this is a no brainer. Plus a 2 year warranty. But if the wallet says go with the 12, absolutely nothing wrong with the 12.

I went thru the same good "dilemma" less than a month ago, and what's in my garage today is the '12 RK. After purchasing the extended warranty, the price was a little less than $3k off the '14.

I believe the 14 has the hydraulic clutch which I didn't want, and I was aware of a few recalls on the 14 touring models. (not sure if the RKs are included)

Other than the cumbersome opening of the bags on the 12 and the lack of tachometer, the 12 had everything I wanted including security and ABS. The mileage was pretty low at 8k, and the service record was good.
Re the bars, I like the Heritage bars on the new model but find the RK bars to be better for me after rolling them up a half inch. I like the steering response with the "old" setup and prefer the appearance.
Enjoy your decision!

I guess I'll go against the grain on this one, for $5k less, the '12 is an easy decision. For $2-3k you can exhaust, cams, a/c, etc, and still be ahead of the '14, other than linked brakes and front forks. And the linked brakes is probably the only feature you can't add-on later.

Why not actually ride both to decide?? If you don't think there is a big difference, save the 5 G's. If you think you'll regret not having some of the bigger improvements of the '14 (the 49mm front end, saddlebags, cruise control, hydraulic clutch), then there you go.

The '14 RK does not have hydraulic clutch, but that's a lot of Benjamins to save.
