Default Will Quiet Baffles Mess up a Tune

Howdy,

I recently purchased and 08 Ultra Classic, it has the 103 big bore, with 255 cams, V&H Big Shot Duals and a Dyno Tune. It runs great, but a little loud. Right now it is running with no baffles. Not bad for short trips, but a little loud for the longer runs. I have not owned a bike with this much work done to it. I am thinking about ordering the V&H Quiet Baffles for the exhaust. If I do, will it effect performance, if so, how?

New (to me) bike.

I have cobra speedsters xtra longs with "open/straight through baffles and every thing is ok with a caned map, but it was way the heck too loud. I ordered the quite baffles from Cobra USA for my pipes, and I loved them. The performance didn't change, but my fuel economy went to snot in a handbag. I want a quite but powerful and economic ride, but I figger a dyno tune is in the works some day

imo the only thing u might notice is it may run a little rich. opened up exhaust usually needs a little extra fuel usually on decel.

What kind of tuner do you have? You may be able to fine tune it yourself. I used the Power Vision Auto Tune feature when I added the Big City Thunder quiet baffles and it runs better than before the baffles! I don't think the baffles make a large difference to the tune unless you have drag pipes. Joe

The V&H quiet baffles don't do much. I used the Smart Partz baffles in my Propipe and it quieted it down quite a bit.

"Mess up" the tune?

Probably not.

Will it need to be retuned?

Ask yourself that question.

Any time you change the air characteristics, it will need to be adjusted, and you know that.

Yes, you'll need to re-tune.
