I traded a bike a few years ago to a dealer. Gave me $6400.00, which was fair. Told me they only made $500.00 on selling trade ins. I saw the bike listed a couple weeks later for $7999.99. A bit more than $500.00.
I was at my dealership Sat and was astounded by the inventory of used bikes that remained for months. The prices they were asking was absurd...I guess they do not believe in the time value of money. Therein lies the lowball on tradeins....sell it privately.
I know my dealer has the same two custom Street Glides on the floor for at least 9 months when I bought my bike. I don't know how they could afford to keep used bikes that long! One is very nice with a custom skull paint job but if it's priced so high it won't sell how is that helping them... Don't get it!

I know from my dealer when the 14's came out there was a program from harley that they paid the floor plan on trades for 6 months to help get the new bikes out. My 12 sold before it hit the showroom floor.
