So i am having a hard time finding anything stereo upgrade related for this year fairing. Have read that some change out to a 1996 or newer. I would like to avoid this if possible. I could get away with a marine aftermarket stereo, really don't mind if the bar controls don't work with it. But finding speaker adapters that will help me upgrade to some 6.5" infinity speakers is also proving difficult. Suggestions on the whole project would be appreciated. Thanks!
We also have a Tech Audio, plus an Evo sections, where you may find helpful advice. Use advanced 'Search' for 'stereo' in the Evo forum and you'll certainly find a few interesting threads.
They also sell a retro kit that allows the factory control to operate an updated radio like a Sony Marine with USB/iPod/iPhone.
I replaced the radio and speakers on a 1995 Ultra and retained the factory controls with this kit. The CB had to go and the radio has an internal antenna, so no remove the whip antennas on the tour pack.
PS - I'm not sure it it will work with a 1991, best call them.
Thanks much! Biketronics does seem to have a retro kit for 1988-1993 model years. Will still call to confirm of course. Took a little digging but found it.
Does anyone know of a good online source for these older elctra glide parts? Something cheaper than going to dealer directly? Specifically right now i will be needing some hardware for the locks and latches. Simple stuff, probably wouldn't be too expensive at the dealer neither. But I prefer online shopping to save time.

You can check out e-bay. There is always something on there. Also, I sold my old radio/CB on e-bay to someone wanting that to keep it stock and to offset some of the cost of the new radio.

I've owned my 1990 bike from new. There is no simple answer to your question. There is less stuff available these days from the dealers, but there are specialists who amass parts and sell them on, also alternative parts that work. You can identify HD part numbers by using one of the on-line parts websites, like this one. There are other websites doing the same thing, so you can also check if they have stock and order it.
As suggested before, call in the Evo section, where you will meet plenty of fellow Evo owners and get assistance. Many of the members here in Touring are post-Evo!
