Hopefully the Ultra Elite's etching will hold up well over time, considering that the Elite has a micro thin coating of actual glass over the polycarbonate. Will waxing it be a good or a bad idea?

That's a good question Roger That.. I'll leave that for LRS to answer if they see this thread

Agreed! James has always been patient and helpful. Mine is also the Ultra Elite Polycarbonate and I asked the best way to clean and here is his response.

"Hey Randy. No, not really. Just stay away from anything with chemicals or alcohol in it. There are plenty of plastic safe cleaners out there. One we use aside from our own Hog Wash is Novus. I'd stay away from that one as it it a polish as well. If you're looking to prolong the etching, I wouldn't polish it much. It won't ever polish out the etching, it just may make it not as pronounced as you had stated. Always use micro fiber. Soapy water works just fine as well."

I know it wouldn't be cheap, but I wonder if LRS could actually seal the surface with another coat of "Ultra" thin coat of glass or polycarbonate. It's a job that's worth preserving!

LRS shields are awesome and I've had two, the Ultra 7" and the Ultra Elite 6" for my recently departed '12 SG. I called them this week to attempt to order a new Ultra Elite 6" for my new '14 SGS and I was told that the smallest available for the '14's is 7". The 7" had me stretching my neck at times to clearly see over the shield with the way I like to sit on my bike. I'm disappointed that I may have to go another route. I will probably be calling Cee Bailey's to have one made custom as their website says they can cut their shields to custom lengths.

RockGeezer dude, yours looks awesome as well!

I am another believer in the LRS shields. I use a 8inch flat top with recurve.

Thanks for the kudos UltraNutz. Shield looks great on your bike. My response that Rockgeezer shared sums it up. With the Elite shields, I wouldn't use a polishing agent like Novus. That stuff works great on our standard modified acrylic versions as it does not have a glass hard coating. Always use micro fiber. Soap and water if you don't use any special plastic safe cleaners. Should be just fine. As always, if any of you ever have any issues, just give me a call and we'll figure it out.

UltraNutz

What is the tint level on that? Is it the light or medium?

Hey Ultranutz, if I met that shield going the other way I'd have to turn around, chase your azz down and buy you a beer. That amp/speaker setup you recommended has served me well and I know the likes of Stevie Ray and Pink Floyd appreciate it.

As always, James and Co. are a class act and willing to go the extra mile to satisfy all of us. Big thumbs up.
