Time for new tires on my 2007 FLHRS. Trying to decide between Dunlop 402 or American Elite 2 tires. Any recomendations?

I run E3's. Going to try American Elites next.

Every major tyre brand offers suitable tyres. We also have countless threads about them and every brand has it's champions. My preference are Avon Cobras for stock sizes.

My 08 Road King came with D402s. I got 15,000 out of the factory tire and 15,000 out of a replacement D402. Each one began to howl like a bad bearing at about the 7000 mile point. Then I tried Dunlop Elite3s and they provided excellent service. I am on my second rear E3 now. The first one got a large puncture at 18,000 miles and it was just a bit more than 1/2 worn. I have 18,000 on this E3 and it has about 4/32 tread depth remaining. They run quieter than the D402s especially after the first half of tread life. So much good has been said about the Michelin Commander II that I have a new rear tire sitting in my garage in case I get a puncture in the current tire I can just replace it with the Michelin. I think tread and tire technology has passed by the D402 and would go with one of the "Elite" Dunlops if I were sticking with them. I am not in a big rush to try the Michelin so will not change early unless there is a reason to.

I have had two sets of the commander || tires . A good tire yes better than the stock Dunlop maybe . The first set I put on a WideGlide thought they were a little slippery more so then the Dunlops . I now have a set on a Street Glide so far ok . I may go back to the stock Dunlop when the time comes .
