Default Just Shooting An Idea Out There

I am getting sick and tired of my obnoxiously loud pipes, but I hate duels on my bike. I'm thinking about trying to find a cracked "Y" pipe and plugging up
the left side. I know from what I have read on here, that cracked y pipe were sorta common on the older touring bikes. So if you have done this, is it, or was it good idea? I have the stock exhaust system that came on my bike but I don't want to ruin it, with a "maybe." By doing this I would have a semi stock two into one H D exhaust with out cats if I used the left side muffler on the right side, or an SE slip on. What are your thoughts on this?

if you have the 09+ frame the old header won't clear.

a freeze plug like $3 at pepboys can be used to seal an exhaust crossover...even like on the 09+

in terms of flow- alot of the commercial 2/1's go to 2" which will flow much more than a 1.75"- how much more? --- about another 40%

Why not simply buy a proper 2-into-1 like my Supertrapp, below? Adjustable baffles, so you can tune the noise to your liking, plus the benefit of improved low/mid range torque and a sweeter running engine.

2010 RG or SG 2-1 headers are around and pretty cheap.

Just would have to remove the Cat if that's a problem for you. Wasn't for me.

I don't know duels really aren't that bad looking I may just put my stock exhaust back on one of these days, but more than likely I'll just say screw it and do nothing.

Really not that bad of an idea. I picked one up in the classifieds for around 120 the full system with heat shields an everything. Then I had a muffler shop make me an extension so I could run one of my American Customs Bomber mufflers.I left the cat in and I can use the muffler with no baffle and it's still not even close to what I would call obnoxiously loud. Also since it's basically a stock system you don't need any kind of fancy tuner to get it to run right.

OP's got a 2007, so 2009+ anything isn't going to work without some fabrication.

The a stock HD 2-1 won't be any work.
Same engine and trans exhaust hanger configuration.

Shouldn't be anyway...
