Talking looking for ideas

Hello Everyone!

I just bought a 2013 Electra Glide Classic on July 1, 2014 and so far I love it. However I am looking to do some upgrades. The place I bought the bike had a 2013 with cruise but it was $2,000, so I went with this one. I have since found a HD cruise control for less than $300. I plan on buying this soon.

It comes with the new switches as well. and looks to be pretty straight forward; except for the part about checking the ECM to make sure it recognizes the cruise control. My nearest dealer is 75 miles away, although a very highly recommended indy shop id 60 miles away. Is there a way to do this without taking it to a shop? The instructions state to check the ECM before riding. So I would have to either trailer it or work on it at a friends house one mile from the dealer and figure how to get it the rest of the way.

The other thing I am interested in is the in helmet speakers and intercom. It also has the handle bar controls but they are different. I understand that you can buy additional switch blocks but am unsure what all I need for this. I really would like to communicate with the GF in a way beside hand signals and yelling.

Any info would be appreciated!

Unless the Indy has the HD diagnostic equipment required to update the ECM to recognize the cruise control module (possible, but doubtful), you'll have to go to an HD Dealer to have it done.

I wish you luck!

It can all always be done, sometimes it hurts the wallet.

Wish you would have come and asked those questions first, it is usually cheaper and easier to buy what you want up front.

Enjoy the ride!!
