Default help ! installed cruise control but it doesnt work

Installed cruise control on my 12FLHX but it doesn't work, is it possible that it may have to go to the dealer to have the ecm enabled with a scan tool for it to work ?

From what I have heard, Yes, the ECM does have to be flashed before the cruise module will be recognized.

Thanks, I'll call the dealer in the morning to see if they can enable it for me quick.

you'd think something that important would be in the instructions.

My part guy told me I would need to come back most likely, but sometimes the bike will not need the flash, he said it is a mix he sees not sure why. But he told me when I bought it just bring it back no charge and they would take care of it. So I wasn't shocked when it didn't work. At least the dealers seem to be willing to do it for us without charge.

wow... i was going to post NO on the flashing.

I installed cruise on my FLTRX last winter and it did not need to be flashed. Mine did not work but I found the problem. The brake level plunger was not getting engaged fully.... I rushed putting the controls on and the controls were not clamped down 100% (I missed the little slot).

glad you got it going. I think my dealer want 4 hours of labor to do it. Might have taken me longer but it was fun and my time is cheaper than 80 an hour.... especially in the winter!!! LOL..

be safe.
