I have been trying to get my new windshield bag mounted properly but, every time I think I got it a few wiggles on the windshield and it all comes loose. I have tried every thing I can think of. The screws are all snug and the holes and studs all lined up. Everything seems fine but, there is always a wiggle at the end. I have a Freedom shield and a Hopnel 3 pouch windshield bag. Any thoughts or tricks you can think of I would appreciate it.
.....don't you have to be careful when tightening up the fairing screws? i thought the inserts could twist if you tried to overtighten.... what about a thin ribber strip to use as a gasket....might help seal the bag to the inner fairing.
So I am using blue loctite and I didn't tighten them to the point they striped. The problem was that on the two outer screws there is plastic support ridges and when adding the plastic from the windshield bag the windshield itself did not have a flat mounting surface so it was able to rock back and forth. So I found this all out after taking off my fairing to see what was going on. To remedy this I used a small piece of tubing on the bottom and side ridges and then with the top plastic from the bag itself regained the flat surface. Everything is now mounted up and working properly.
