Purchased a new 2014 limited from a reputable harley dealer here in illinois on tuesday. My insurance company called me today and requested pictures of the vehicle identification number (vin#). According to the insurance company ( state farm underwriting) the vin# does not exist. all the documents I have including the certificate from harley have the same numbers that are stamped on the bike. The bike was sold by hd in milwakee where it was made and sold to the dealership where i purchased the bike. Anyone had this issue come up. Any input would be greatly appreciated. P.S. wife wont let me ride new bike till this is resolved !!!
all your documents match but what did you provide to state farm? over the phone? did you write it down and give it to them? maybe you made a mistake? remember, by law, a VIN will not contain the letters I, O, Q so they aren't confused with the numbers 1 and 0.

I have had this happen with a new car. Fax in the paper work and pics of the VIN. It will sort out.

It is a State Farm Problem.
If you have a good relationship with your agent, they will give you a card, and cover you if anything happens, because it is not your fukkup.
I've used SF for 15 years, never an issue with them. They called me 4 days ago and said my VIN was invalid. I took them proof that my VIN is, in fact, valid, they said they will cover me.
.....and give the skirt back the the OL, get your pants on and ride!
